Variscite is pleased to announce the re-launch of the VAR-SOM-MX8X, and i.MX8X-based System on Module with the latest i.MX 8X silicon revision qualified for full production. The launch takes place parallel to NXP’s formal broad market launch after NXP introduced the new silicon revision earlier this quarter as the production-qualified revision. The VAR-SOM-MX8X SoM has already been launched last year and was available for our early access customers, allowing them to leverage this technology for new developments well before the broad market launch.
The VAR-SOM-MX8X expands the VAR-SOM Pin2Pin product family and provides a pin-compatible option to i.MX 8, i.MX 8M, i.MX 8M Mini, i.MX 8M Nano, i.MX 6, i.MX 6UL/6ULL/6ULZ and the upcoming i.MX 8M Plus based modules. This broad products family allows our customers ultimate scalability, extended lifetime, and reducing development time, costs, and risks.
Variscite VAR-SOM Pin2Pin product family
The SoM is based on i.MX 8QuadXPlus / 8DualXPlus / 8DualX processor with up to Quad-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A35, and offers high processing capabilities in a power-optimized platform, thanks to the integration of ARM’s most efficient Cortex-A35 cores with its Cortex-M4F real-time co-processor. In addition, the SoM provides a highly integrated solution with 4K H.265 Decode, 1080p H.264 Encode/Decode, Vivante GC7000Lite GPU for 2D and 3D graphics acceleration, Camera Interfaces, parallel LCD, DSI / LVDS, dual GbE, certified Wi-Fi/BT, CAN/CAN-FD, USB3.0 and serial interfaces.
