Webinar: One Module, Three Wins: Design Speed, Real AI Performance, and Certified Wi-Fi With Arrow, NXP, and Murata
Developing embedded devices around the latest processors keeps getting harder, and sourcing the parts around them isn’t any easier. In this webinar, Variscite joined Arrow Electronics Japan, NXP Japan, and Murata Manufacturing to show how System on Modules solve both problems, closing with a live board bring-up demo that went from a blank SD card to a working Wi-Fi connection in under six minutes.
The webinar focused on the following platforms:
- The i.MX 95-based DART-MX95 System on Module, shown in the live demo
- The i.MX 8M Plus-based System on Module used in a Japanese CNC case study
- The i.MX 93, positioned for scalable, low-cost edge AI
In this webinar, Variscite and its partners covered:
- Chip-down design vs. System on Modules, compared on time to market, design risk, scalability, and cost
- Variscite’s pin-compatible SoM families and their Linux, Android, Yocto, Debian, and RTOS software support
- A Japanese case study: on-device AI for detecting and clearing swarf buildup inside CNC machines
- The NXP i.MX processor lineup, from the original i.MX 1 to the i.MX 95, and why TOPS figures alone don’t predict real AI performance
- Generative AI running locally on the i.MX 95, including a retrieval-augmented conversational HMI with no cloud connection
- NXP’s newly acquired Kinara external NPU, extending i.MX 95-based and i.MX 8M Plus-based modules to multimodal AI workloads
- Murata’s pin-compatible, pre-certified wireless module family
- A live demo: board bring-up to a working Wi-Fi throughput test in under six minutes
