Variscite is pleased to inform about the Yocto Sumo v1.0 release for the VAR-SOM-MX7 modules, based on NXP iMX7 processors.
Modules: VAR-SOM-MX7 (VAR-SOM-MX7 and VAR-SOM-MX7-5G).
Release: sumo-fslc-4.9.88-mx7-v1.0.
Noteworthy updates:
- sources/meta-variscite-fslc:
- Upgraded the Linux kernel to NXP release 4.9.88
- wictool support – replace the obsolete “sdcard” image type with the default “wic.gz” and remove the redundant ext4 image type
- Add support for NAND flash parts with eraseblock size of 256KiB
- WiFi : load / unload WiFi driver during power up – down sequence
- sources/meta-browser:
- chromium-x11: Upgraded to 67.0.3396.99
- sources/meta-qt5:
- Qt: upgrade to 5.10.1

Variscite will present a new product lineup built around the Smart Mobility Architecture (SMARC) form factor standard during Embedded World 2026, running March 10-12 in Nuremberg, Germany. The debut will feature the first public reveal of the VAR-SMARC-MX8M-PLUS, running on NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus processor. Visitors can find Variscite at booth 4A-342 in the Exhibition Centre.
