NEW! VAR-SOM-AM33-V2, with enhanced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities

Variscite, a leading design and manufacturer of embedded solutions and System-on-Modules, announces the launch of the enhanced VAR-SOM-AM33_V2 System-on-Module.

The already hugely successful VAR-SOM-AM33 has been upgraded to support the latest and most advanced WiLinkTM 8 WiFi and Bluetooth combo module from Texas Instruments.
Based on Texas Instrument’s 1 GHz Sitara™ AM335x ARM Cortex-A8, the VAR-SOM-AM3_V2 packs an impressive feature-set, a wide variety of interfaces and industrial operating temperature range, all the while sustaining a firm focus on minimizing the overall system cost.

 

VAR-SOM-AM33-V2

The VAR-SOM-AM33 suits embedded applications across a multitude of market segments, such as automotive, IoT, lighting, agriculture and industrial. The new V2 enhanced connectivity features are based on TI’s FCC/CE certified dual band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n with optional MIMO and Bluetooth 4.0 / BLE that can achieve effective bit rates of 100 Mbps, together with extended wireless range.

The new VAR-SOM-AM33_V2 is fully pin-compatible with the previous VAR-SOM-AM33 Rev 1. Both revisions will continue to be in mass production supporting Variscite’s longevity commitment for the entire product portfolio.

VAR-SOM-AM33_V2 main features include:

  • TI AM335x 600, 800 and 1000MHz Cortex-A8
  • 128 to 512 MB  DDR3
  • 128 to 1024 MB NAND Flash
  • 2D/3D graphics acceleration: Power VR SGX 530
  • RGB display 1400 x 1050 24-bit
  • 10/100 Mbps Ethernet + 10/100/1000 RGMII
  • Certified WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n 2.4 / 5GHz with optional 2×2 MIMO
  • Bluetooth 4.0 / BLE
  • USB 2.0: Host, OTG
  • Audio In/Out
  • Industrial temperature -40 to 85°C
