Starting from only $39 USD, the latest highly configurable offering from Variscite ticks all the right boxes for ultimately affordable System On Module (SOM) based-design.

No longer priced out of the technology and time-to-market advantage, manufacturers are discovering that the VAR-SOM-AM33 has flung open the door to a whole range of cost-sensitive designs.

Supporting the 720MHz Sitara™ AM335x ARM® Cortex™-A8 processor from Texas Instruments (TI) with a rich 2D/3D graphics accelerator, this latest offering from Variscite provides a powerful and flexible selection across the full spectrum of applications. For example, particular specs like the -40 to 85°C temperature range and dual CAN bus make it ideal for industrial applications such as automotive, control systems, lighting, refining and processing. With Ethernet, USB, touch controller audio and WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, the VAR-SOM-AM33 is also highly integrated with support for a wide range of operating systems.

Variscite also offers a more fully featured, touchscreen-enabled VAR-DVK-AM33 development kit. The VAR-DVK-AM33 serves as a complete development kit for evaluation and application development, says Variscite. It the VAR-AM33CustomBoard with a 7″ resistive/capacitive touchscreen and a 12V power supply, as well as serial, Ethernet, and USB cables.
