Variscite and ICS Partner To Offer Complete Hardware And Software Solution For High-Performing Embedded Systems

Sunday, 05 Dec 2021

Variscite is pleased to announce its new partnership with Integrated Computer Solutions Inc. (“ICS”), a leading company for sophisticated embedded software solutions to provide a complete hardware and software solution for customers in the embedded market.

Variscite’s reliable System on Module / Computer on Module solutions and ICS’ expert services together provide a complete solution, from the optimized hardware and low-level software that Variscite provides through the custom platform integration and software development services that ICS is adding on top.
The customers choosing this complete solution will benefit from accelerated development and gain further competitive advantage in terms of decreased development cost and more reliable long-time continuity of maintenance and support.

For two decades, Variscite has been producing high-quality System on Module solutions for the embedded segments, including the highly sensitive medical field. Variscite is the only SoM provider member in the NXP Platinum Partner program, developing and manufacturing its internal production line, serving more than 5,000 customers in over 50 countries worldwide.
The company has established two highly scalable pin-compatible product families, VAR-SOM and DART, based on NXP i.MX 6 and i.MX 8 series, offering seamless scalability, optimized price/performance, and extended product lifetime.

ICS’ software solutions have already been implemented on Variscite’s modules among several projects, allowing the customers a significantly accelerated product release.
“We are very excited about the cooperation between ICS and Variscite,” said Ofer Austerlitz, VP Business Development and Sales at Variscite. “The combination between Variscite’s trusted SoM solutions and ICS’ expertise in the higher software application layers provides our customers with a complete platform that can be optimized to their specific end-product needs while reducing development risk, time to market, and overall system costs.”

ICS combines intuitive user experience (UX) design and world-class software development expertise with full product realization services for mission-critical, regulated and tech-centric markets, including medtech, automotive, IoT, and industrial controls. Over the last several years, the company has invested in its dedicated medical technology practice, adding talent with critical competencies and services in human factors engineering, cybersecurity, AI and robotics, cloud services, and regulatory compliance.

“Connected technologies are driving innovation and transforming industries at lightning speed,” commented Dan McGillivray, VP of Sales at ICS. “Consequently, to stay competitive, it is imperative that product manufacturers continuously take advantage of design and technology enhancements to improve processes and product outcomes. Our partnership with Variscite and their powerful SoM solutions enables us to deliver the world-class products our customers require.”

VAR+NRG. Built for MedTech. Ready for Compliance
Getting a regulated medical product to market requires more than great hardware. Engineering teams must simultaneously manage embedded software, cybersecurity, QMS documentation, and validation – keeping all of it aligned around a single certified, long-term-reliable product. That is precisely the challenge a new Variscite and NRG partnership is designed to address.
Variscite, a leading System on Module manufacturer with proven expertise in medical applications, has joined forces with NRG, an engineering firm specializing in regulated medtech systems, to deliver an integrated hardware-software solution for companies building embedded medical products. The partnership gives development teams access to both a proven hardware platform and the software and engineering capabilities needed to support regulated development goals and product readiness.

The global component crisis is forcing embedded teams to confront an uncomfortable reality: not all SoM vendors are equally equipped to weather it. In the latest episode of the Embedded Executive Podcast, Variscite CEO Ohad Yaniv joined Rich Nass of Embedded Computing Design to discuss what it takes to keep customer projects on schedule when supplies are under sustained pressure and why the answer starts with who controls your manufacturing. Unlike vendors who rely on subcontractors, Variscite designs and manufactures its entire System on Module portfolio in-house, with production fully certified to ISO 9001, 13485, and 27001 standards.
