Celebrating Two Decades of Pioneering the Embedded Market: A Look Back at Variscite's Journey

We’re thrilled to share a Variscite milestone moment as it’s been an exhilarating journey of 20 years filled with innovation, growth, and leadership within the embedded industry. To celebrate, we’re taking a moment to look back and revisiting all that we’ve achieved together.

 

Since our inception in 2003, Variscite has carved its niche as a premier designer, developer, and manufacturer of System on Module (SoM) solutions, dedicated to transforming our clients’ innovative visions into leading market products. Over the years, we’ve remained at the forefront of embedded technology, consistently being the first to bring groundbreaking products to market.

 

Additionally, our global footprint has expanded significantly as we have served over 7,000 customers across more than 70 countries. The company’s portfolio boasts a blend of high performance, versatile solutions with superior power management and industry-leading cost-efficiency. With our Arm®-based solutions, we’ve been instrumental in helping to shape the future of our clients’ products.

 

As we celebrate this significant anniversary, we reflect on the milestones that have marked our journey:

– Variscite officially enters the embedded systems market in 2003.

– The company introduces its first SoM in 2007.

– Achieves recognition as a Texas Instruments “Proven Partner” in 2008, followed by NXP in 2011.

– Sets new industry benchmarks with the DART SoM in 2012 for SoM size.

– Transitions to in-house manufacturing in 2014, further enhancing quality and delivery capabilities.

– Forms strategic partnership with Arrow Electronics in 2014.

– Achieves ISO 13485 medical certification in 2015.

– Ships one-millionth SoM in 2015.

– Receives exclusive early access to all NXP i.MX8 families in 2017.

– Expands production facilities and global presence, including the opening of a new production site in 2018 and a branch in Germany in 2019.

– Elevates partnership status with NXP to “Platinum” in 2020 and introduces first SoM with integrated AI/ML capabilities, NXP i.MX 8M Plus.

– Continues to expand production capacity from 2021 to 2023 to meet the growing demand for our innovative solutions.

new VAR-SMARC-MX8M-PLUS at Embedded World 2026
Variscite will present a new product lineup built around the Smart Mobility Architecture (SMARC) form factor standard during Embedded World 2026, running March 10-12 in Nuremberg, Germany. The debut will feature the first public reveal of the VAR-SMARC-MX8M-PLUS, running on NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus processor. Visitors can find Variscite at booth 4A-342 in the Exhibition Centre.
